History
Acadian & Mic Mac Roots:
- 28 March 1690: The Seigneury de Saint-Matthieu confirmed in Cobequid.
- 1 October 1738-1742: Abbe Jean-Louis Le Loutre, Society of Foreign Missions, has dual appointment of Mic Mac missionary of the mainland, with headquarters at Shubenacadie, and first resident priest of Cobequid. The Parish Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul is built at Cove d'Eglise (Masstown) by Abbe LeLoutre.
- 1750-1755: Expulsion of Acadians from Cobequid.
Cumberland-Colchester North Mission:
- 1847: Father Thomas Lyons named first resident priest of Cumberland (and Colchester) Mission.
- May 1851: Mass said to have been celebrated by Father Hugh O'Reilly, the third Pastor of Pictou, on the Pictou Road, on property now owned by the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, Bible Hill.
- 1853-1857: Father James Rogers becomes the second resident priest of the Cumberland-North Colchester Mission.
- 1862-1865: Reverend Edmund Kennedy, Cumberland-North Colchester Mission.
- 1869-1874: Reverend William J. Mihan, Pastor Parrsboro and Truro, takes up residence in Truro 1870.
- 10 December 1871: Father William J. Mihan opens the Church of the Immaculate Conception at Prince and Walker streets.
- 26 January 1873: Father William J. Mihan designates himself as Parish Priest of Truro, although he later moves back to Parrsboro as the Centre of the Mission, until he leaves the region in 1874.
- 1874-1875: Rev. Patrick William Brown, Cumberland-North Colchester Mission.
- 1875-1879: Rev. James T. Bresnan, Cumberland-North Colchester Mission.
Immaculate Conception Church served from Saint Mary's Basilica, Halifax:
- 1877-1878: Reverend Richard Kearns visits Truro and Acadia Mines (Londonderry) from Saint Mary's Basilica, Halifax.
- 1878: Reverend George A. Ellis visits Truro and Acadian Mines (Londonderry) from Saint Mary's Basilica, Halifax. Londonderry becomes a parish.
- 1877-1881: Reverend Canon David Coleman O'Connor visits.
- 1881-1894: Reverend John D. Cummane becomes Parish Priest, beginning an unbroken pattern of resident Pastors extending to the present day.
- 1984-1905: Reverend Michael K. Kinsella, Parish Priest.
- 1905-1917: Rev. Msgr. Edmund Kennedy, Parish Priest.
- 24 September 1908: Cornerstone is laid for the new Immaculate Conception Church.
- 8 December 1908: The Second Church of the Immaculate Conception is opened for Divine Service.
- 1917-1944: Reverend Michael K. Kinsella serves a second term as Parish Priest.
- March 1917: Reverend Cyril J. Martin, first curate in Truro. Reverend Anthony Laba, Parish Administrator.
- 1944-1952: Reverend J. Emmet Dougan, Parish Priest.
- 1952-1963: Rev. Msgr. Basil C. Martin, Parish Priest. Reverend Robert Walsh, Parish Administrator.
- 1963-1968: Reverend Anthony A. Francis, Parish Priest.
- 1968-1970: Reverend Lloyd Robertson, Parish Priest.
- 1970-1972: Reverend Donald J. MacDonald, Parish Priest.

- 10 June 1978: Cornerstone to the third Church of the Immaculate Conception is laid by Most Rev. James M. Hayes, Archbishop of Halifax.
